Analysis using a Mann Whitney U test shows that there is no significant difference between the median eigencentrality score of Senate Democrats and Republicans in affiliation networks (U = 1128.5, p-value = 0.09). However, there is a significant difference in the median eigencentrality score of Senate Democrats and Republicans in communication networks (U = 1370, p-value = 0.0001). Specifically, Republicans have a significantly higher median score than Democrats (Republican median = 0.73, Democrat median = 0.57)
